Key Outcomes:

The findings of these three technical reports were disseminated at numerous levels. On a public scale, the findings were introduced within a series of Op-Eds produced by the NPC within the Daily Times and the Nations Newspaper. The OpEd related to Maternal and Neonatal Health ran on February 2, 2021, while those for Nutrition and Family Planning ran on Feb 23 and March 2, respectively. The findings were introduced more specifically to policy makers at the NPC’s Media Panel on Health Outcomes, which was held on May 21, 2021, and featured the Hon. Dr. Mathews Ngwale, Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Health and Population, Malawi Parliament, and Dr. Queen Dube, Chief Health Service Officer, Ministry of Health, as Panelists.
The findings of the Maternal and Neonatal Health Technical Report also informed discussion in the chamber the passing of the 2020/2021 National Budget was deliberated. Those of the Family Planning Technical Report were included in Malawi’s FP2030 as one of the key Family Planning interventions towards achieving the FP2030 Targets.

Key Outcomes: 

On a public scale, the findings of the Technical Report were introduced within a series of Op-Eds produced by the NPC within the Daily Times and the Nations Newspaper. The OpEd outlining the findings ran on February 9, 2021, which caught the attention of the Journalist Association Against AIDS. Following this, the Journalist Association Against AIDS met with the NPC to discuss potential areas of collaboration going forward. At the end of 2020, a Concept Note for potential collaboration between the two was under development.

 

Malaria

Key Outcomes:

The findings of the Malaria Technical Report were used by the National Malawi Control Programme to roll out its initiatives and provide a basis for its further activities. Dissemination specifically targeted those policy implementing teams and departments, with the report providing evidence for programme development and implementation to the Malaria Control Unit. Based on this information, in addition to complementary findings generated by the Ministry of Health itself, a new program was devised, consistent with the findings of the paper.
